Oh, so very many things I could say about this wedding… It was simply beautiful, in so many ways. Jeannine and Ted were married on his parents’ property just outside Helena. There we so many fun little details! I don’t have time to post them all that the moment, but I want to put up a few pictures until we get them finished. My wife Bridget did an amazing job shooting alongside me… We had a blast!

Carrie and Ryan: Married! Helena Montana Wedding Photographer

OK, so this isn’t the full post. Just not there quite yet. But I figured you all would like a little sneak peek, so I’m going to oblige you. Carrie and Ryan got married last month at her mother’s house here in Helena. Well, I should say out next to the lake. It was a beautiful backyard wedding – I don’t think we could have asked for a nicer setting. Or a nicer day – it was perfect (if a bit warm).

I have so many pictures I can’t wait to post from their wedding, but we will all have to wait just a bit longer… Until then, please enjoy just these few, and feel free to leave Carrie and Ryan some love in the comments box, or use that Facebook like button if you want!

Kathy and Josh: Married! Bozeman Montana Wedding Photographer

OK, so I am going to warn you up front, this post will be a bit longer than most. Bear with me, it will be worth it. As you may have seen from the sneak peek, Kathy and Josh were married at Roy’s Barn down in beautiful Bozeman, Montana. However, we started the day by climbing up Pete’s Hill for some sunrise first look pictures and portraits. Yup, I said sunrise (or darn close enough!) as we were up there at 7am! But, I think the results were more than worth the sleepy hike.

So here is where this is going to take a bit more personal twist. Not only is Josh another great Montana photographer – he is also one of my closest friends. Having one of your best friends choose you to shoot their wedding is nothing short of humbling. Being in that same wedding AND shooting it is nothing short of a bit crazy – but I wouldn’t have traded it. Yes, you read that right, I was a groomsman and a photographer. To be 100% honest, it isn’t something I recommend – I wouldn’t do it for anyone else. But, being in Josh is wedding was something I wouldn’t have given up for the world, and being able to photograph them was simply an amazing privilege.

Now, to be fair, I wasn’t the only photographer there by a long shot. My fabulous second shooter Janna was there to help handle the family and formal images (it is kinda hard to shot a group picture when you are in it, ya know?), and I have to also throw out huge thanks to Jeremiah Spray for coming out and really just being a help where ever he could. He was a huge help at the reception (as Janna had to leave after dinner) and I so appreciate the both of them – you guys made this day possible more than you know. Thanks!

And now is where we are going to get really personal… I want to say a few words to Josh and Kathy. I was going to do this at your rehearsal party (yes I said party, not dinner – there were 150+ people there!), but to be completely honest I was too choked up listening to everyone else’s wonderful words about the two of you. So here we go:

Kathy – Josh is one of my best friends, and I think it is safe for me to say you are one of the (if not THE , but God ranks pretty high… ) best things that ever happened to him. You fully complete him, and totally bring out the best in him, all while watching his back on his weaknesses. And, I think that is exactly what a marriage should be, so I think you guys are on the right track. So many times you hear guys complaining about losing their other guy friends to girlfriends/wives… I don’t feel that way at all. I think you’ve given me a better version of one of my closest friends, and Bridget and I have gained a wonderful friend in addition to that. We love ya. Oh, and one quick word about Josh -he is one of the most sincere, well meaning, and hard working men I know. He does nothing half way. Always keep that and mind, and use it for good.

Josh – This will be shorter, I promise. You married up, big time, in every way. Treat her right (I know you will) so I don’t have to thump on you. Seriously. I will. You’ve been an amazing friend and I look forward to all the time we will get to spend together with our wonderful wives. You’ve always looked out for the best for me and my family, and that means a ton. Hope you can always say the same.

OK, so this has gotten truly long winded – time for some pictures now, right? There are LOTS of them, and I would love to hear from you in the comments.

Oh, and random fact of the evening. I love pineapple. I mean, LOVE it. Just finished a can of it off as I was writing this… Not as good as fresh, but it was good nonetheless.

Carolyn and Ben: Bozeman Montana Wedding Photographer

Janna and I had such a great time with Carolyn and Ben at their beautiful wedding. The whole event was held at the Gallatin Gateway Inn – just outside Bozeman, Montana - which I have to say has become of my favorite venues. The staff did a wonderful job, the setting is beautiful, the food was great – what more could you want?

Carolyn looked amazing in her dress from J.CREW – simple and elegant. A perfect reflection of the entire day – everything was very nicely done.

Also, I have to say that all the bouquets and the floral arrangements looked great as well. I think Country Flower did a great job!

Finally, I want to give a quick thanks to Josh from Lockie Photography and Jeremiah from In His Image Studios for lending a hand – you guys were a huge help!

Josh and Kathy Married! – Bozeman, Montana

Oh, so so so so may things I want to say about this wedding. Josh and Kathy are great friends of mine, and I had the privilege to be in and photograph part of their wedding, which was in Bozeman at Roy’s Barn. But, because the post I want to do is so large, and I am so slow at getting them done… I’ll just have to leave you with this one image until I can finish it. Hope you like it!

Brad and Mandy: Kleffner Ranch, Helena Montana

Wow, it has been a whirlwind week! Two weddings, (one of which I was in!), an art show, a couple of engagement sessions, and a whole host of other things. Must be wedding season in Montana! Needless to say, I have a lot of stuff coming up soon to post!

I had the wonderful opportunity to be Brad and Mandy’s wedding photographer for their beautiful event at the Kleffner Ranch. It was a beautiful, if a bit windy, day… But that didn’t stop us!

So, here is just a sneak peek… I know, we’ve had a lot of those, but I will have some full weddings to post very soon! I just can’t help it – I have to show at least a couple! Here are a few that jumped out at me while I was going through them tonight…

Ashley and Christopher – Civic Center, Helena

Finally have the opportunity to post a full blog post from Ashley and Chris’s wedding here in Helena. As we mentioned in the sneak peak, they were married at the Helena Civic Center, and we also took a lot of the formal images at the beautiful Carroll College campus.

The rain threatened all day off and on, but other than a little wind it was actually a nice day. Made for some nice clouds in a few images!

Overall it was a very classy wedding to say the least. The speeches at the end of the night were some of the most touching ones I’ve heard in some time… You guys are truly blessed to have a family that supports you so much!

We had a wonderful experince working with Ashley and Chris and their families – we hope you all enjoy the images as much as we enjoyed making them!

Carolyn and Ben – Gallatin Gateway Inn, Bozeman

Carolyn and Ben were married this past weekend, and we had the great privilege of being there to capture it for them! The whole event was held at the Gallatin Gateway Inn, just outside Bozeman, Montana. The Inn is very historic, and beautiful as well!

Helena Montana Wedding: Ashley and Chris

Ashley and Chris just got married on Saturday the 29th, but I was downloading their images onto the computer tonight and I couldn’t wait to post just a couple… The ceremony and reception were both at the ballroom of the Civic Center – which they had decorated very nicely! We also went over to the Carroll College campus to take some of the pictures. We managed to dodge the wind and the rain for some great pictures.

There will be more to come soon, but for now, just a couple to whet your appetite!

Fashion Bridal Shoot – Helena, Montana

I’ve been waiting to post this FOREVER! For various reasons, I couldn’t until now. What happens when you combine gorgeous Melissa Sweet gowns with a talented model, a great style/makeup/hair team, and a couple photographers? Well, besides a lot of fun, you get some killer images – which is exactly what we got!

We had the day all setup – locations picked, sets planned, the works. Then what happens? It rains. And the wind blows almost 50 mph. Seriously. Not so great, especially since it meant it was under 40 degrees with the wind chill. So, we went to plan B, and made a few phone calls. Thanks to some very generous people, we had a couple different indoor locations offered to us within just a little while… After scouting the locations, we decided on a very cool four story brick building that is in the process of being renovated – the historic Montana Distillery building – and we had the whole thing to ourselves! (Thanks Blair!)

We set up camp on the top floor and got to work. Several hours – and one patient model – later, we had some great images… Which are coming, I promise. We set out to shoot this as more of a fashion shoot – to showcase some gowns and location ideas that you might not get to see in an everyday wedding (at least not here in MT). I think we accomplished what we wanted, and we had a ton of fun doing it! Thanks to the whole team for being so flexible and being willing to make it up as we go – it turned out great!

And last, but certainly not least, I want to give credit where credit is due – then on to the images!
