Montana Wedding Photographer: Josh and Kathy’s E-sesh!

Just a couple quick teasers from Josh and Kathy’s engagement session last night…  I couldn’t wait to post these, and there will be plenty more posted soon!

Josh and Kathy are close friends of ours, and together they run Lockie Photography.  Check out their site here: Bozeman Wedding Photographers

They will be getting married down in Bozeman this July, and I get to be a part of their wedding, as well as documenting part of it.  Sound crazy?  Well, that’s just the way we like it….  :)

Make them feel good; say nice things about them in the comment box!

Montana Wedding Photographer: Oliva and Tyson E-sesh

What better time to shoot an engagement session than on Valentine’s day, right?  Well, that’s exactly what we did with Olivia and Tyson on that Sunday afternoon!  The sun was shining, it was (kinda) warm, and so we made the most of it!

These guys brought some great outfits, which is always a bonus.  (Pink Converse for the win!)  I love engagement sessions because they are fun, and we get to do fun stuff (like multiple outfits, locations, etc)!  We spent some time downtown, which is one of my favorite locations for shooting.  Overall we had a great time, and I think we got some great pictures of them.  Can’t wait for the wedding this summer over at Kleffner Ranch.

Please feel free to leave some comment love for them, and I will also update this post tomorrow with the link to the full gallery.

Thanks!

Chris

A quiet Sunday morning…

Nothing like a quiet Sunday morning home with the kids.  Usually about now we would be at church over at Mount Helena Community Church, but mom is working this morning, and I’m not feeling brave enough to go solo with the 2 little ones.  :)  Besides, they are playing together nicely, and who wants to interrupt that?

On another note, the sun is shining outside, and it looks like spring!  I doubt it feels like spring outside, judging by the frost on the car, but nonetheless it makes me excited for warmer days…

…and warmer, longer days means wedding season is that much closer to starting!  Yes, I am excited, and I can’t wait for wedding season to get underway.  We have the most amazing clients, and I can’t wait to work with all of them this year.

With that, I’m off to play with the kiddos…

Montana Wedding Photographer: Carrie and Ryan’s E-sesh!

So, as promised, here is the updated set from Carrie and Ryan’s snowy (and kinda chilly) engagement session we did this past weekend.  We had the chance to shoot these at Carrie’s mother’s house, which just so happens to be where their wedding will be this July!  Can’t wait for then; it will be beautiful out there!

These guys were a ton of fun, and I think their wedding will be a blast.  And kudos to them for braving the cold!

Also, if you want to check out the full set of images, you can see them here.

Thanks for visiting, and please feel free to leave some comments for us!

Our favorites from 2009! Please vote for your favorite!

So, we kinda wanted to do a recap from 2009 and show a couple of our favorite images from each of the weddings we shot last year.  I say we, but I guess in actuality these are Chris’s favorites, as I picked them all.  :)

We were thinking about doing something fun, like having our readers vote, and then doing a fun prize for the couple who’s picture got the most votes.  Still debating what that prize could be…  So, I will try and get them numbered, so vote in the comments section for your fave!   (NOTE: This is all done in the spirit of fun, so please one vote per person.  We can see IP addresses and the like when you leave comments, so please play fair.  Ok, thanks!)

So, without further ado, here are some of our favorite images from 2009!

Chris

EDIT: Use the #’s listed on the post, not the ones on the images themselves…  They don’t quite match!  :)

Catching Up!

Wow!  Had a wonderful, busy, (exhausting?) holiday season, and now it’s time to get back to work!  Lots of stuff going on that I’d like to share, so here we go… (in no particular order…)

Janna had the opportunity to go to a 1-on-1 workshop with the wonderful Jessica Kettle, of Jessica Kettle Photography, who’s work Janna and I both love.  She learned a ton, and I got to learn a little too, secondhand.  :)

I’ve got some new pictures to post up here soon, and some old ones as well.  Sometime in the next week or so we will be doing at least one best of 2009 post, and I’m thinking we may even have a little fun with it!  Maybe a vote, and the couple in the winning image gets a prize?  What do you think of that?  Not 100% sure on the idea, so I’m open to hear others.  :)

Sometime in the not to distant future we will be starting what will (hopefully) become a regular feature: Guest Authors.  We will have posts (and I think maybe even some video posts!) from some people with good info to share for both brides-to-be and photographers alike.  Keep a watch for the first installment sometime in the next few weeks, hopefully.

We are going to be at the Helena Bridal Fair again this year, and we are super excited to meet you all!  Please don’t be shy - we are going to have a great giveaway, and we would love to just chat with you.

We’ve received some wonderful comments and testimonies from our clients in 2009, and some of those will be appearing on the website soon, and we may post them here with a few images tied to them as well.  Hopefully it will be something helpful for those of year who like to know you’ll get what you pay for.  :)

I think that’s about it at the moment…  I’m sure I’m forgetting something, but that’s ok.  Hopefully have another post tonight with some pictures from a recent engagement session!  Leave some love in the comment box if you have some to give.

Thanks!

Chris

Montana Wedding Photographer - Angela and Rob

I know I haven’t been posting much lately, but what can I say…  It’s just that time of year.  Christmas, New Year’s, the food, the family… Hard to keep up!  But, right in the middle of it all this year I had a lovely little winter wedding.  The wedding season in Montana generally runs from about May until September, so it’s always a treat to get to do a wedding that is outside of that!

Angela and Rob were married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and had a beautiful reception at Benny’s Bistro.  The whole event was small, intimate, elegant and just plain beautiful!

With all of that said, I just have a couple quick photos I want to share.  I will post some more as I get them done, but these were a couple of my favorites.  Oh, and thanks to my beautiful wife Bridget for coming and shooting some pics as well.  One of these below is hers…  :)  Leave some love in the comments section!

I love my job!

Well, let me rephrase that.

I LOVE my job.

OK, there is the rare occasion when I am staring at my computer at 3 in the morning that I feel like I don’t love it, or at least that part of it….  But then I wake up in the morning and I love my job again.  So it’s all good.  :)

I think my favorite thing in the world to photograph is a wedding.  I know some people say they are all the same, or that once you’ve done a few you’ve seen it all…  I just don’t see it that way at all.  While having done plenty of weddings does mean I’ve seen a lot of things, I think that each wedding really is unique.  Each couple is unique, and there is an ever changing cast of characters…  What more could you want?

I don’t think I’ve ever done another job that is as much work as this one, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.  I’m never more exhausted then at the end of a wedding, but it is always worth it.  Janna and I do everything possible to make your experience relaxed, comfortable, and most of all FUN!  If you’ve seen any of the pictures that have been snapped of me working on Facebook and the like, you’ll know we like to have fun, and we like to make it fun for you.

All the pictures you see here and on the website wouldn’t be possible without all the amazing clients I’ve had the chance to work with.  Working with all of you is what makes this job worthwhile, and I can’t wait to meet all the clients for 2010.  Gonna be the best year yet!

So, thanks to everyone who has helped us get to this point, and here’s to all of you who we will meet along the rest of the way!

Montana Wedding Photographer - Melissa and Dustin

Ok, now I am really catching up…  I think I’ve blogged almost everything…  Yeah!

Now, back to our previously scheduled blog post…  Melissa and Dustin were married on Oct. 24 in Missoula.  I met Melissa last year at Laura and Andrew Gundlach’s wedding, where she was doing video.  And you all saw their engagement pictures from earlier this year as well.  That session was a blast, and their wedding was as well!  Great people, fun times, beautiful locations…  And no snow, so that’s a bonus. :)

Janna and I had a great time shooting this wedding, and it was a fun way to pretty much wrap up the wedding season for us.  Just a few quick pictures for your enjoyment…  Let us know what you think!

Montana Destination Wedding Photographer - Margaret and Andy

I had the great pleasure of being a part of Margaret and Andy’s wedding on Oct. 16th.  It was a small, intimate wedding, comprised mostly of family and some very close friends.  It was a very relaxed, pleasant sort of fall wedding.  Just the kind I like…

The ceremony was at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, and the reception was held at the beautiful Elkhorn View Bed and Breakfast.  The food was provided by Benny’s Bistro, and it was amazing, as usual!

And now, on to a few of my favorites from the day…  Hope you enjoy, and feel free to leave any comments!
