Andy and Angie Wood, of A&A Photography are going to be giving a workshop here in Helena on Monday, July 11th.  They have spoken at WPPI the last couple of years, and also Andy was a print competition judge there last.  They really know their stuff, both with the images and the business side of things.  And they are a ton of fun!  The images I posted are from a workshop I took with them early last year in Denver.

The cost for the day is $200.  If a 2nd person from your studio attends it is just another $50 for them.  Here is a rough outline for the day:

9:00AM – 11:30PM

~  Work with models, walk around using different light

11:30PM – 12:15PM      Lunch

12:15PM – 1:45             Business

~  How to market in this economy
Where to spend your advertising dollars, how to save money
Standing out in the sea of photographers

~  Getting Published
Two Bright Lights
Wedding Blogs
Magazines

~ Social Networking
How to use Twitter for your business effectively
How to use Facebook for your business effectively

~  Branding
Making everything flow and match (online and print)
Design & Printing Marketing for less
Ideas to set you apart

~  Organization & Customer Service
Emails
Cards
Data Base & Keeping track of where you are at with each one

~ Creativity
Other processes (Collodion & Polaroid)
Thinking outside of the box
Inspiration
Shooting for yourself & for client

1:45PM – 4:30PM  Shoot with Models

4:30PM – 5:00PM    Wrap Up & Last Questions

Obviously that is subject to change, but that’s the basic idea.  Also, I might guest teach a small section.  That’s still in the works.  :)   Also, I know we have people coming from Missoula and Bozeman, so the start time might get adjusted slightly – we will keep you posted.

Email Angie with questions or to sign up and make it official – andy@a-a-photography.com

Oh, and we nee a couple to model for the workshop – email me if you are interested.

Thanks!

A super fun wedding from beautiful Big Sky Montana.

If you’ve already skipped ahead and looked at the images, then you know we had a LOT of fun at this wedding.  Bethany and Winston were married at Big Sky Chapel, in Big Sky, Montana.  Their wedding was simple and tasteful, and oh, did I mention fun?  The reception happened at Bucks T4 Lodge, which is just outside of Big Sky.  We had perfect spring weather (it had been pouring for days…) so we took advantage of it.

Winston and Bethany wanted a little more relaxed, fun approach to the day.  As you can see, that’s just who they are.  The necklace Bethany was wearing was made from a pendant that her Great (or maybe Great-Great?) Grandfather had worn.  Pretty cool!

Hope you enjoy the images – leave them some love in the comments section or use the facebook button to share with friends and family!

A few images from a recent destination wedding in Ennis, MT.

Marie and Jeff came up to beautiful Ennis, Montana for their simple and fun destination wedding.  They came from the Boise, Idaho area, with friends and family coming from as far away as Tennessee!  The setting for the event was the beautiful El Western Resort.

Marie had one of the most unique pieces of jewelry – an engagement bracelet!  It was handmade by an artist in Alaska, I think.  The same artist the wedding band in the image below.

Just want to share a few pictures I liked as I was editing through them.  Hope you enjoy!

On Sunday I had the great pleasure of taking Emilie and Josh out around Helena to shoot a few engagement photos.  Springtime weather here in Montana is, well….. unpredictable, to say the least.  But, we caught a nice break in the weather, and had fun getting some engagement pictures done for them.  I’m so glad the weather played nice, since Josh came down from his home up in Kalispell so we could do them!

So, just a little sneak peek to tide you over…  Can’t wait for your wedding in September!  Oh, and one of these pictures I posted just for you, Josh…….  :)

A fun engagement session in beautiful Bozeman!

Hey there everyone!  Well, it is getting to be that time of year again here in Montana.  You know, that time of year where it seems like spring at least 3 days a week?  Well, we happened to catch one of those days a couple weeks back when I went to Bozeman to shoot Jade and Ryan’s engagement pictures.  It was sunny, and (mostly) warm, and we had fun wondering around downtown Bozeman.  I love working in Bozeman, and it always makes me miss when I loved there a few years back.

Jade and Ryan will be getting married later in the year over in Missoula, at a cool venue that will make for a beautiful fall wedding.  I’ve wanted to shoot a wedding at Heritage Hall for a while now, so I am excited to get the chance!

You should start seeing a lot more posts coming soon, as we things start to get real busy around here again in the next few weeks.  Can’t wait!

Check out these fun images from Jade and Ryan’s session…  and be sure to leave them some love while you are here.  The square format images were shot on Kodak’s New Portra 160 120 format that I just finally got the chance to try.  I love it!

And if you are wondering what all this film talk is about…  Well, you’ll find out here pretty soon.

Thanks for stopping by!
